FAQs

Do you have local delivery or do you ship?

Yes, local delivery is included. John and I will be doing the delivery ourselves, no third party deliveries.

We do offer shipping on a case to case basis.

Do you offer classes?

We currently do not.

Will the vintage pieces be perfect?

We work very hard on all of our pieces but, please keep in mind that this is older/vintage furniture. They may have little quirks and imperfections that are common with vintage pieces. If total perfection is what you are after then an older, vintage piece of furniture is probably not for you.

This is what we do to our pieces:

  • We always do a sniff test and avoid super smelly pieces but the fact is, some people are more sensitive to old smells than others. We do add wise owl hemp oil to the inside of the drawers on our “Restored and Painted Collection”.

  • We highly recommend a custom piece of glass for the tops of all pieces but especially pieces that will be getting a lot of use such as nightstands and desks. This small investment will help protect the top from standing water. Best thing is just use coasters.

  • We use a waterborne product. It is not indestructible and certain chemicals may harm it. We recommend cleaning with a damp cloth or Howards beeswax.

  • We provide a paint sample with a sponge applicator with care instructions for touch ups if needed. This is only with the Restored and Painted Collection.

Do you stain the insides and back of pieces?

The backs of these vintage pieces we do not paint them, sometimes we do add new backboards though if needed.

We don’t stain inside drawers, but we do use wise owl hemp owl on the outer drawers and inside drawers, or cabinet areas on our “Restored and Painted Collection” and “As Is Original Condition Collection”.

We mask off all of the drawers the best we can and after removing the doors, mask off the inside of the cabinets and leave them in the original finish. There may be small ink or perfume stains or imperfections inside the drawers but we try to sand them down to dull them out.

Which Wise Owl hemp oil fragrances are used for the inside/outside drawers and cabinet areas?

Tobacco Flower: A masculine masterpiece. It is bold and complex – leading with a top note of leather, tobacco, amber and musk. The middle is a spicy mixture of black tea and pepper. The base note is aged teakwood with tones of patchouli and sandalwood.

Lemon Verbana: Bright lemon & floral verbena combines in this incredible salve. The scent begins with verdant lime, grapefruit & lemon. This scent combines lavender, geranium rose & lemongrass, and undertones of soft woody musk.

Bourbon Vanilla: Oak-aged bourbon combine gently with Madagascar vanilla bean, hickory, dark amber, and touches of birch wood. Bourbon Vanilla’s appeal is enhanced with crushed black peppercorns, spicy nutmeg, and golden clove bud.

Do you hold?

We do hold for a maximum of a week but with full payment. If you need longer it will be an additional $10 a week.

Do you seal your pieces?

We do seal either with a sprayed sealer which is a water based sealer for our Restored and Painted Collection. On our Distressed Chalk Painted Collection we seal in a wax finish.

Do you lacquer furniture?

No, we do not.

Do you custom paint or stain customers own pieces?

We do offer custom painting on customers own pieces but on a case to case basis. As for staining customers own pieces, that is on a case to case basis too. Which means that the customer has to be willing to adjust on design if the piece can’t be stained once we strip it. Some wood and damage isn’t the same with all pieces. We don’t know until we get into it.

Pieces we don’t do are listed below.

  • tables and chairs

  • china cabinets

  • armories

  • previously painted pieces

  • single nightstands

Do you offer painted pieces still?

Yes, we do still offer painted furniture. Our painted pieces in the Restored and Painted Collection or our Distressed Chalk Painted Collection.

I see you offer furniture in original condition? Are those restored at all?

We do offer furniture in it’s original vintage condition. They are all in excellent functional working order as all our pieces are. They may have some cosmetic wear which will be described in the listing. We do not restore those for customers. If we do decide to restore/paint them we will list them for sale after that process is completed at a additional up charge. If we have them listed in their original condition, it’s due to the fact that we feel it doesn’t have much damage for the need to restore it.

I noticed your prices are higher than other re-finishers in the area?

We base our prices on our work, experience, the style of the furniture, the price we paid for the piece initially, materials we used, if new hardware was added, if hardware was cleaned or polished, if its in demand, if its a rare piece, and our design of the dresser (basically our art).

This is our process we go through:

  • Make sure all the drawers open/close correctly and with ease. If not we repair them.

  • Move it to see if it is wobbly, if it is we repair that.

  • Look for any loose veneer and repair that if needed.

  • Clean out the inner body if needed.

  • Clean the inner drawers if needed, although sometimes there may be stain we just can’t remove. But it will be smooth.

  • Remove any unwanted feature of the furniture for the design we are going for.

  • Add metal or plastic feet to the bottom legs.

  • Design the piece to how Candy ( the designer/re-finisher) wants it.

  • Purchase new hardware if needed.

If I have some furniture I want to get painted will you do that?

Yes, on a case to case basis. We would have to see the piece and know how you want it done. We don’t do previously painted pieces or factory painted finishes.
