Mid Century Modern Painted....
Had this dresser for some time now. I'd say a few years?
It wasn't taken care of, I knew it would have to be painted.
Those top stains were horrible.
So, we stripped it down.
Stains didn't go away. I knew they wouldn't.
Repaired some chips and loose veneer.
Primed.
I decided to paint it in black bamboo.
Then I added new champagne gold modern knobs.
Sealed in a semi gloss sealer.
Stained the bottom legs in dark walnut.

Vintage United Mid Century Modern Dresser Restored...
I could've listed this as is if it didn't have so much
damage and wear.
Before above, it looks good from the pictures.
Top looked like they tried to sand it down but
sanded it wrong. See the scraps going horizontal.
The top back edge needed veneer repair we had to fill that in.
Two of the interior middle drawer bottoms
where thin a brittle.
See the top looked bad.
We repaired everything, added new interior drawer bottoms to
the middle drawers.
Then stripped everything.
Removed the wood handles. Stripped those.
Added a new wood back. The old back was worn.
I stained it all in dark walnut.
Sealed everything in a semi gloss sprayed sealer.
I even stained the back and sealed that also.
I don't usually do this but I it was a new board.

Then, during, and after.
Restored Broyhill Mcm Dresser....
I actually have the matching chest in the previous post.
Rare Broyhill Mid Century Modern Dresser
in the Accent line.
Before above and below.
We did a full restoration on this. Had more damage
than I felt comfortable with.
Chips on the back from the mirror (which has sold).
Chipped veneer on sides.
Chipped and split on top corner.
We stripped it all down after repairs.
Wood is a different on the middle drawers
and cabinet doors. So the stain came out darker.
I use full stain and don't mess with toners. Too much time
to work with that and I would have to charge higher on my price.
Not going to do that, not worth it to me.
Repaired cracks.
I stained in dark walnut.
This has 12 drawers total.
Sealed in water based sprayed semi gloss.
Painted hardware gold, remember it was silver.
Gold looks way better. Silver looked too office type.
I love the darker middle wood, it sets it apart from the rest.

Mid Century Modern Dresser Restoration ....
Before below. This mid century dresser came with
no legs. They where removed. Then someone added
a wood frame under it to sit on.
We removed that.
We repaired the veneer issues.
The top was really bad.
I had some legs in my inventory. They didn't fit good.
So we had to remove the screw and put a new one.
That made the legs tight and sturdy.
These legs are high too. Which was a plus.
Stripped, repaired everything.
Removed the plastic recessed pulls.
Stained in dark walnut.
Sealed everything in semi gloss sprayed sealer.
That grain is beautiful!

Restored Mid Century Modern Dresser....
I had this for sometime in my inventory, but then
I used it in my sons room for about 4 years.
He has moved on to another piece, so I might as well
refinish it! I have many mcm dressers in
my inventory, adding this one would be ridiculous.
I mean if I don't get to it now, when will I?
The before is above and below.
I couldn't put it up for sale as is looking like this.
To many scratches, missing veneer in some areas.
Has wood handles.
Wood flat square pull on top drawers.
Stripped it all down.
Striped everything but the back part of the top drawers.
I loved that pattern and wasn't sure I could copy that.
Here it is below after I stained it in dark walnut.
Sealed in a semi gloss sealer.

Mid Century Modern Dresser Brought to Life....
Finally got around to doing this post!
I've been really busy with customer orders lately.
I refinished this beautiful mid century modern
dresser in a two tone look.
Before below.
Stripped it all down. Sealed in all the nicks and scratches
I could see.
Look at that raw beautiful wood.
All those patterns of wood!
Stained in dark walnut on body.
Stained the top border of the drawers in
early american.
Polished up the handles to reveal a
beautiful gold.
Sealed in a semi gloss sheen.
Oh my goodness!! This came out so so so
BEAUTIFUL! It sold before I could list.
I actually put it up on my facebook page
in the raw stripped wood and one of my
customers saw it. Then it was gone :)
Mid Century Modern in Navy...
I had this early mid century modern
dresser in my inventory for some time.
I've been pulling pieces from my inventory
as we're getting overloaded on pieces.
During the past 7 years we've had customer paint orders after
another with no gap. Well, we've gotten a large
build up of our own pieces. Our customer orders have
mostly been their own pieces they want us to paint.
Anyways, here is the before of the dresser I was putting
up for sale this week while still working on my
customer orders.
I removed the bottom piece and added
some mid century legs. I figured it would look much better.
Stripped it down.
Stained the top drawers and legs.
Painted the rest in Benjamin Moore Hale Navy.
Hardware I painted gold.
Stained drawers in dark walnut.
I was actually undecided on color.
I had this one and other in mind.
A customer contacted me and wanted it.
So, it sold before I could list it.
Looks so beautiful! I'm so amazed at what I can
come up with and do sometimes!
BEAUTIFUL BEAUTIFUL BEAUTIFUL!!!
Completely Refinished Mid Century Dresser...
I picked this out at an auction I went to a few
months ago. Was a bidding war between John and another
guy. We won it though as you can see!
Before below.
Was damaged in some areas.
Sanded everything down, repaired the dents, scratches,
and chips.
Look at that beautiful grain!
When I picked this out at auction I
wasn't planning on painting it. I wanted to
refinish it.
Could you imagine covering up that beautiful wood?
Nope I wasn't going to.
Wood pulls where sanded also.
Here it is after I stained it in early american.
I usually do dark walnut stains, but I wanted to try
something different.
So glad I did!
Top coated it in a semi gloss sealer.
Painted hardware gold.
Gold metal tips for legs too.
BEAUTIFUL!!!

MCM Two Toned White Dresser...
Got this early mid century modern dresser
from a goodwill. I loved the look of it.
I knew exactly how I was going to paint it.
Here is the before below.
Repaired all the loose veneer as these older
mid century pieces have. They layered veneer
over each other so most all of them I have
encountered are all solid wood as is this one.
Early mid century pieces are from the mid to late 40s.
Some early 50s.
This is made by Harmony House.
I painted the shell and right drawers
in a semi gloss white.
Stained the left drawers in dark walnut.
Sealed the stained drawers in a semi gloss sealer.
Then painted the hardware gold.
Beautiful!
Priced at $330

Delivery available for an additional $20.
Mid Century Modern Gold White Dresser...
Client picked this mid century from my inventory.
She wanted it custom painted in a gold white detailed look.
Here is the before below.
It needed major repairs on bubbling veneer.
Here it is stripped and repaired below.
Painted body white.
Stained drawers.
Hardware painted gold.
She also wanted longer legs.
I have lots of mid century legs in my inventory
and she picked the longest one I had.
Painted gold brass tips of the legs she picked.
Painted the outline of the nailed in handles on the
center and bottom drawers gold.
Then painted the mid section of the handles white.
Looks beautiful!
It was not fun detailing but worth it for the outcome.
Mid Century Modern Two Tone Dresser...
New client found us on Craigslist in last month and also
found this dresser on Craigslist. She bought the dresser
and dropped it off with us to paint it.
She's also leaving us 2 more mcm dressers that were hers
and wants us to custom paint those too.
Those will be in a later post (working on them now).
Below is the before of the mcm dresser she found.
She wanted all the dents and scratches filled in
for a smooth clean look.
She also wanted a new wood back as the current one was
beat up and cardboard.
So we stripped it...removed the back cardboard.
Filled in all the dents and scratches.
Then I primed the body and painted it white which
is what she wanted. She wanted a two tone look.
White body with stained drawers.
She wanted the stain in a certain color...
not too red and not too black.
More brown.
We stripped the drawers down and I forgot to
take a picture of them stripped. I was short on time.
I will with the next mcm dresser she wants us to do.
That will be in my next post.
She loved it and we did too!
Gray MCM Dresser.........
I usually put up pieces we get in for
sale as is or I can custom paint it for you in the color of
your choice. This one though I wanted to paint in a color
I chose. I don't get to do that as much as
I'm pretty busy with custom client orders.
So here is the before below.
I sanded it down, I didn't go down to the bare wood
because I was going to use general finishes milk paint.
I just sanded it down more because I wanted too.
Formica top, I sanded that down also.
Repaired the back legs because they had missing
chunks of wood. Smoothed it all out now it looks
like it wasn't even there. We don't use wood putty
either as that shrinks with time. Our repair we
do will last forever and is rock solid.
Primed it all.
Then I painted it in queenston gray, the camera took
a bright picture though so this is not the true color.
Kept the hardware the same just cleaned them.
This one below is more the color.
I really love this modern look.
This is currently for sale.
Mid Century Furniture Shabby Chic White.......
Mid century modern dresser and nightstand was
picked form our inventory by new clients.
They were a referral from a previous client of ours.
They wanted them with a light shabby chic white look.
Here is the before of the mcm dresser below.
Here it is below stripped down.
Below is a picture of it primed.
Then here come the pictures of it painted white
and distressed for a slight shabby chic look.
They wanted the handles lept original.
Love this look.
Next is the mcm nightstand.
Below is the before.
Then stripped pictured below.
Next primed.
Then painted white and distressed lightly.
I aged this handle to match the
dresser handles, because it was silver.
They both look awesome!
