Duncan Phyfe Chest on Chest...
New client picked this from our inventory.
She wanted a chest of drawers and I showed
her a few I had in stock not listed
in my inventory album. I'm just so busy with painting
and orders I don't have time to take photos
of everything I have. I try to get a few in a week.
Here is the before of this beautiful
duncan phyfe chest on chest.
She wanted a white distressed look with
some refinished wood incorporated
in the piece to match her grandmothers
chest she had already in her guest room.
Sanded, primed and painted everything.
Used ben moore ultra white in semi gloss.
She wanted my thoughts on which part to
refinish. I decided on the top two drawers.
Hardware kept original and it's beautiful!
Came out so beautiful...
She loved it as you can see in the post above :)
Duncan Tallboy Two Tone....
Client we've had from 2013 wanted us to find her
another duncan phyfe tallboy to custom paint for her.
Here is the before now. Needed some work.
We repaired all missing loose veneer and the chipped
legs.
Sanded it all down.
Chipped foot repaired.
Missing chipped leaf repaired.
Stained body in ebony and waxed in a
high quality black wax.
Painted handles in glossy black.
Painted drawers in restoration hardware paint
butter cream.
Beautiful and she loved it!
All the other pieces we did for her.
This one was painted just like the one we just finished for her.
She wanted them to match.
Stormy Blue Duncan Phyfe Dresser.......
I had this beautiful duncan phyfe dresser for about
3 months in my inventory not listed as available.
I have quite a few like that in my inventory that are
not listed. Some need repair and some need stripping.
This particular one needed some repair.
After John repaired it I just went ahead and painted it
in my own color design.
I went for a stormy blue color with some gray tints
in it. I custom made this color from annie sloan
chalk paint.
Aged it but didn't distress it. I didn't think the look
I was going for would look good distressed.
My smooth flat finish.
I also painted and aged the hardware.
Loving this piece.
Duncan Phyfe Dresser Painted and Glazed.....
I received an email from who was to be one
of our new clients and another wonderful person
I've had the pleasure of meeting.
She was here visiting here in Houston for a
couple of days, she traveled from Tennessee where she resides.
She really liked this dresser I had and my work.
So we talked on the phone and relayed messages
back and forth like I do with all my clients.
She had sent me a picture of a similar dresser she liked the color
it was painted. So I tried to match it the closest I could.
She settled on General Finishes Milk Paint color Basil.
Then wanted the Van Dyke Glaze over that.
So here is the before.....
Now, general finishes says to lightly sand, but I like to strip
them down which we did.....repaired
all the missing veneer....
then I primed it all....
painted it all basil.....
she wanted the hardware kept original, which
was a fantastic choice as it really adds to the aged feel....
added the glaze....
All finished! I love the color and glaze together on this
Duncan Phyfe Dresser it makes it looks really old :)
Beautiful!
Repair Order on Pedastal Table & Chair......
This was a repair order for
Jaime and Ashley who we
did the french provincial set for,
from my last post.
Their lab chewed up one of the
pedastal legs from their table.
Then chewed the side leg
of one of the legs.
Here is the before...
So John repaired the chair
leg and I stained it.....
It took John like a full
week to repair and reshape
the leg to it's orginal state.....
I tried to match the stain
as close as possible.....
Here are the before and after pictures.
Jaime and Ashley where in aw of
the finished pieces.
They loved them so much!
Hopefully, their lab doesn't touch it again :)
Duncan Phyfe Stained with Cream Drawers.....
This was a furnished and custom painted order
for one of our repeat clients. We did these pieces for her
pictured here....
She picked this one below to go with the teal dresser
and french cream nightstands.
She wanted it to look like this style I did a few years ago...
except cream drawers and a darker stain to match the
others we did....
So we stripped it down, stained the outer shell
then black waxed it.
Primed and painted the drawers cream...
painted the handles glossy black....
This is it fully completed! I'm so in LOVE with this style!!!
Then again, I love all my pieces :)
Coral Dixie Duncan Phyfe Dresser.....
This was a before picture of a
Duncan Phyfe Dixie dresser
we had. It was very damaged on
the drawers and bottom all cosmetic.
So we repaired all of them.
sanded it all down for a smooth finish...
then primed it multiple times...
and painted it with multiple layers of
a coral color...
painted the hardware gold....
our paint finish is very flat and smooth....
I love this color combo!
