Deep Blue French Dresser...
Found this french chest of drawers in a resale shop.
I was intentionally going to use only the
hardware. I just couldn't. So, I updated it.
Here is the before below.
Needed some drawer repair.
We did that and now it's in fully working order.
I sanded most of it down
and cleaned it up.
I painted it in some new chalk paint
I wanted to try out.
It's Magnolia by Joanna Gaines
in the color silos district.
My verdict on the paint, it's like any other
chalk paint out there. Only problem is
they mix it before you order it. So, it took about a week
in a half to get it. Mind you I live in Humble, TX.
That's 20 mins outside Houston, TX.
It adheres well and distresses good.
I did do 4 coats though. First coat coverage
was good, but I wanted a more even
coverage.
I added some gray and white stripped
paper to the back. This piece did have a missing drawer.
Then we added some wood pieces to the sides
and bottom to make a shelf.
I stained and sealed those.
Distressed some areas on edges. Not too over the top though.
Hardware I cleaned up and kept the white in
the creases of the handles to go with
some of the white from distressing.
To make give it a little more, I added the striped
paper to the inside drawers.
Sealed everything in a flat finish.
It's all smooth and durable.
Love this!
Would look amazing in a childs/tweens room.
Available, message if interested.
Redesigned Updated Dresser.....
A new client found us online in a group on facebook.
She loved our work and my design for pieces I custom
paint and put up for sale.
She fell in love with this dresser below I had painted and
put up for sale last month. It sold to another new client.
She had this dresser already that was her daughter's.
She wanted us to seal in the hole and make new ones
for the new hardware she bought. So we sealed in the
holes and added new ones.
Here is the picture I sent her after we finished
that part. I wanted to show her how it looked.
She loved it.
Then we stripped the top to get all the damage from
years of use. Nice and smooth.
She wanted me to paint it like the other dresser I had done above.
She loved the design so much.
So here it is all updated!
I used Annie Sloan chalk paint in a custom color
I made.
She loved it!
Old World Look For Deep Gray Dresser......
I had this dresser in my inventory for awhile. It was up
for sale as is since last November. So, I decided to redesign
it in my own color and look. It is available for sale now.
Here is the before below. We repaired some cosmetic damage
here and there.
I decided to use Annie Sloan chalk paint on this one.
I custom mixed some colors to
get a deep rich gray color.
I didn't distress it at all because, I think it didn't
go with the look of this dresser. So I aged it with some
dark wax.
Then, I painted the hardware silver and aged those
also.
I sealed in all the holes on the top drawers, I didn't
like the handles.
So, I added some silver glass knobs. I wanted them
big and square to go with the look of the dresser.
We also added some feet on all four corners.
I'm like so in love with how it turned out. It's exactly what
I pictured when designing it.
Chateau Finish Nightstands Set....
One of our previous clients contacted me and wanted these
beautiful John Widdecomb italian provincial
nightstands set we had in our inventory.
She wanted us to paint them in the chateau finish
we did for on a gorgeous italian provincial dresser
she ordered from us last year.
Here is the before of the nightstands set below.
We had to strip them of course.
Then I went to work on the painted process with
Annie Sloan chalk paint.
Beautiful! Here is the dresser below she ordered
from us and had us custom paint last year.
Her room looks gorgeous!
Teal Shabby Chic End Tables.......
I had a previous order with this color, so I pulled these
from our inventory and painted these also along
with the order I was currently doing.
I loved these end tables and knew that teal
color would look beautiful on these.
I used Annie Sloan chalk paint on these.
Aged them.
Very lightly distressed them also.
Kept all original hardware exactly the same.
Left the insides alone.
I'm like totally in love with these!
These are currently available.
Teal Aged Antique End Table...
One of our awesome repeat clients wanted us
to custom paint this family heirloom end table they had.
Here is the before below.
We refinished the top in a mixture of stain colors,
then added a semi gloss sealer.
Did the same to the small top of the middle part.
Painted the rest in annie sloan provence
and aged it.
Did a very light distress, I mean very light.
Beautiful!
Shabby chic pink & teal furniture...
A client came to us 3 years ago with some furniture
she didn't want and gave it to us.
She contacted us in June and wanted us
to custom paint some pieces for her grand daughters
room. I discounted her on the custom
painting from the furniture she gave us all those years ago.
Above is a old armoire with shelves in it
and a drawer on bottom.
This needed repair so we did that.
She wanted me to design
all the pieces with my own color scheme.
Being that her grand daughter loved pink,
I went with colors that are bright and fun.
I did a custom pink from annie sloan chalk paint
and a custom teal from the same line of chalk paint.
Painted the hardware 2 different shade of gold.
Distressed all the edges to show some teal.
I went with a shabby chic aged pink and teal look.
Next, was the bookshelf.
This needed repair also. Which we did.
I stained the whole shelf and sealed it.
Painted the hardware 2 shade of gold.
Painted it the same custom colors from the armoire.
Last, was this iron gate door she had.
She wanted us to make it into a twin
headboard, We cut off the hinges on the side.
I sealed it and custom painted it the teal
from above. Then added some gold to the edge tips
We have quite a few of those banister posts, so
we added some to the ends.
All finished and looking adorable!
Aged Nightstands Set....
Had these for sometime in our inventory.
They were for sale as is or we could custom paint in your choice
of color. We have been busy with custom orders for
a long time now. Every now and then I have a few days
where I can squeeze in one of my own creations
with my choice in design.
So I picked these.
Here is the before below.
I painted them in annie sloan chalk paint.
The color is a custom mix of coco and old white.
I aged it and aged the hardware.
No distress on this one, I didn't like the way it looked.
Super gorgeous!!!
Sold!
Shabby Chic Bedroom Set...
This was a referral order from one of our
previous clients, who in fact was another referral!
Awesome huh? So glad clients appreciate our hard work.
We are custom furniture painters who actually put
in a whole lot of work to get our look and durability.
I mean a lot of work, It takes us days sometimes to perfect our look.
My husband and I are somewhat of perfectionists.
Stripping, repairing, filling in (scratches, dents, holes),
sanding, priming, painting.
So many steps, plus we live in houston, tx
so it can get extremely hot.
We don't think our clients even notice most of the work
we do to get our look. Then, we get referrals or they
contact us months or years later and want us to do more pieces!
Just because they loved our work before so much!
Plus, we don't just say it, we show it here
on our blog what we do.
Ok, enough of all that let's get to these pieces we did.
Our client wanted these in annie sloan chalk paint.
She wanted a shabby chic look with age.
Now, with the chalk paint we don't strip of course.
Here is the hope chest before below.
I spray my chalk paint so there is no brush strokes.
This hope chest was done in old antique white
and aged.
I also aged the hardware as they where silver.
I wanted it to match the lock.
Next, was 2 twin beds. She wanted it the same as the chest
finish and color.
Aged and in old antique white.
Last, was the nightstand.
This was in a duck egg blue and aged also.
Looks so beautiful!
Vintage black look for chest...
A client who purchased the nightstands set
we custom painted in a vintage black look
(you can view those in a previous post),
wanted us to custom paint her chest of drawers
just like the nightstands.
Here is the before....
Painted in Annie Sloan graphite....
aged and aged the hardware also....
Love it!
Black Aged Vintage Look for Nightstands Set......
Before picture of this nightstand set. I didn't like
the hardware in the middle, so we took those out.
Sanded the tops down to smooth it out.
Painted them with annie sloan chalk paint....
aged them to look old and vintage....
painted and aged the hardware also....
I really like the old vintage look of these!
Aged Black Antique China Cabinet.......
Last piece for the 4 piece custom painted order done
for our repeat client. She wanted this antique
china cabinet in a aged distressed shabby chic black.
The sides of front had glass, she wanted mirrors to replace the glass.
Here is the before below....
we also repaired all the missing warped veneer on bottoms...
I used Annie Sloan chalk paint in graphite
for this one...
aged it......
ordered the mirrors and added them....
painted the inside exactly like the outside.....
aged the hardware and hinges....
she wanted it a old and dirty black....
LOVE!
Gold Dipped Shabby Chic Pink HIghchair......
This is the 3rd piece our repeat client had us custom paint
in her order she put in with us. She had a total of 4 pieces
in her custom painted order. Her 1st order she put in with us
was the yellow bed frame post from last year.
Here is the before of the highchair, she wanted
a shabby chic pink with gold dipped feet and gold detail
on the engraved part of the back head rest of the chair.
I custom mixed annie sloan chalk paint
to get the color she wanted from Ben Moore.
I couldn't get the exact match but tried to come close.
Did the gold detail on the engraved part...
Gold dipped the feet.....
distressed it......
Super cute!!!!
Aged Shabby Chic Pink Buffet.....
Our repeat client had put in a big order. She wanted
us to custom paint 4 pieces of furniture.
The ivory dresser from previous post was one.
This is the 2nd one. It was a buffet.
She wanted a shabby chic aged pink look, with some gold
over the details.
Here is the before....
I used Annie Sloan Chalk paint and custom mixed
colors to get similar color she wanted. It was very hard to get a close color
as the waxes darken the actual color of the chalk paint.
Plus, chalk paint is hard to match latex paint colors exactly.
It was a lot of layering to get this look...
Added gold detail and aged it all....
Added gold to hardware also...
I loved how it came out, worth all the hard work!
