Vintage Updated China Cabinet without the Hutch...
I loved how unique and gorgeous this buffet was.
It was a china cabinet but didn't like the hutch.
The hutch sat inside of it. Before above. I was going to keep the
original hardware , but when I was taking them off one broke.
I decided to replace the hardware with the ones shown below.
Added a plank top.
Painted it in Joanna Gaines Magnolia
chalk paint in Regal Leaf. A beautiful forest green.
All in a clean finish. I didn't think any distressing would
compliment this piece at all.
Stained the plank in a custom mix of driftwood and provincial.
I wanted a lighter more natural tone without too much yellow.
We added 6 new wood feet to give it more height.
It was 27" high from the beginning. Now it's 32"high.
Also, extremely sturdy.
painted the inside cabinet also.
Didn't paint the side cabinet areas.
Sealed everything in a flat sprayed sealer.
Available! Message if interested.
Before and after.
Mid Century Modern In Light Gray...
Second custom piece we did for this new client.
She is just the sweetest person! Anyway she wanted
us to paint her mid century modern buffet.
Here is the before below.
We sanded it down as you can see below.
She chose Grayish by Sherwin Williams.
I color matched it with Benjamin Moore because
it's my favorite latex paint to use.
After I primed it I painted it in grayish.
Hardware painted in gold.
Then she wanted a semi gloss sheen.
So after I painted I sealed in semi gloss sealer.
She didn't want the inside painted.
Looks so chic! Clean look and very beautiful 💞
Antiqued Old White Dining Set, Buffet, Hutch...
Client who we did the previous post for which
was the navy french dresser/nightstand set,
wanted us to do her antique
dining set also.
Before photos below.
Glass hutch.
Small side buffet.
Top of buffet was damaged.
All 6 chairs.
Stripped the top side buffet.
Stripped the 3 leaves for the table.
Stripped table top.
She wanted the leaves and table refinished because it
had water rings/stains.
She wanted my opinions on some designs for the look.
She knew she wanted the annie sloan
old white antiqued look I've done before.
She fell in love with the antique set we
had previously done for her friend (our previous client).
Which was the old white antiqued look.
But, she was on a budget from Harvey.
She intentionally wanted everything refinished
and stained. Although, we don't do that anymore
and it would be very expensive.
I suggested painting only the outside of the glass hutch
and cleaning up/sealing the inside.
Then, I suggested we paint the whole
side buffet to bring in more
of the old white look.
We refinished the table top/leaves though as they where
rough looking.
Sealed them all with 5 coats of sealer.
All three leaves refinished and looking beautiful.
Chairs we cleaned up and sealed them all.
Keeping more of the wood
in the mix instead of painting the chairs
would really bring everything together.
Especially for the design of the pieces.
She provided her new fabric and we upholstered
them all.
She was very pleased with the outcome!
I was too.
Beautiful Ornate Buffet In Gray...
The last piece of furniture for the huge order we've
been working on the last few weeks. We had to wait a week till Harvey
left houston to do this. That was scary. The rain just didn't stop.
Constant, more hard downpours than anything.
We didn't get any flooding in our home or storage units.
Although, a lot of my clients did. Some lost only the first floor.
Other's lost everything. Pieces we had custom painted for them
where ruined and had to be thrown out. As long as they are
all ok because items can be repaired and replaced.
Still it's heartbreaking and a stressful tiring time for them.
We have seen the destruction going thru the neighbor
hoods. There are no words. All the furniture, appliances, mattresses,
lamps, sofas, bedding, clothes, sheetrock, everything on the front
lawns. Mother nature is very unpredictable, life is very
unpredictable. But seeing all the amazing people in our city
of Houston, Tx is beautiful. Helping each other, making it somewhat
easier for people who lost so much. Lifting that burden some
to relieve that anxiety of what was lost. God bless them all.
Here is the before on this beautiful buffet my client
purchased from her neighbor that was moving and couldn't
take it with her.
You need a key to open all doors.
We sanded it all down and then I primed it all.
Then I painted it in Benjamin Moore Chelsea Gray.
She initially wanted metallic silver from Ralph Lauren,
but they no longer make paint.
It came out so clean and beautiful. So glad she went with one
of the colors I recomended!
Buffet & China Cabinet in Dark Navy.....
New client contacted me thru my blog and wanted me
to custom paint her antique buffet & china cabinet (hutch).
She viewed my blog for a bit and picked the custom navy
blue with antiquing I've done with Annie Sloan.
I custom mixed the color (sometimes I don't quite remember the
exact measurements so I have play with it).
Before picture of the buffet below.
After I custom painted it and antiqued it (no distressing)
pictures below.
Smooth thin finish.
I kept the hardware original. She left that up to me.
She just wanted me to do what I do basically.
Said she loved my work and trusted my artistry.
She wanted the inside painted.
I just love this look!
Next, was the hutch.
Before pictures below.
Same color and finish as the buffet above.
She wanted everything painted, so we took
apart everything.
Painted the inside top and bottom parts.
My smooth thin finish.
It takes a whole lot of time, paint, and work
to get these looks I do. I mean lots of work.
The detailing, numerous coats of paint I do
but in the end, I always always always love the outcome.
Plus, the bonus is the clients reaction when they see it 💝
Aged Shabby Chic Pink Buffet.....
Our repeat client had put in a big order. She wanted
us to custom paint 4 pieces of furniture.
The ivory dresser from previous post was one.
This is the 2nd one. It was a buffet.
She wanted a shabby chic aged pink look, with some gold
over the details.
Here is the before....
I used Annie Sloan Chalk paint and custom mixed
colors to get similar color she wanted. It was very hard to get a close color
as the waxes darken the actual color of the chalk paint.
Plus, chalk paint is hard to match latex paint colors exactly.
It was a lot of layering to get this look...
Added gold detail and aged it all....
Added gold to hardware also...
I loved how it came out, worth all the hard work!
Buffet painted black then distressed...
One of my previous clients contacted us about
this buffet she had. She wanted us to paint
it black with some distress on the edges.
Then, wanted the inside painted the color of her walls
in her dining room/hallway.
here is the before, a thick heavy factory finish....
we stripped it all down to the bare wood...
then painted it all black....
distressed the edges...
sprayed with my hvlp gun a polycrylic
to seal it all....
painted the inside a soft gray/blue color
used the same color of her walls...
Looks really good, a lot better then the original finish!
Custom Painted Pieces for Interior Designer..........
As most of you know, I sell my furniture pieces
unfinished or we can custom paint them for you.
Our unfinished pieces are most of the time a blank
canvas. Which means you can paint them however you
want if you buy unfinished.
So, an interior designer named Stephanie Ruckert
contacted me for one of my unfinished pieces.
She wanted us to deliver it unfinished.
Then, she viewed my blog and called back
for us to custom paint 6 of her pieces.
She told us she had just purchased a house in The Woodlands, TX.
What she is doing is remodeling the whole house
to show different styles of decorating houses.
Basically, her home will be a display of her interior designs.
She mixes industrial and vintage together.
It is so awesome looking!
She calls herself "Free Spirit Finds"
Here is the antique buffet she wanted it repaired as shown
we are doing.....
then she picked out a teal color...
wanted us to age it where it
would naturally age,,,,
we sanded it completely down after repairing it...
sealed the wood and painted it all teal except the hardware....
then added a satin finish.....
Wow! Looks beautiful!
Next, was a dresser that had a thick yellow finish on it...
this was the only before picture I could get as
John started on it before I
could get a picture...
The hardware was a heavy black....
we stripped the whole thing even the hardware....
primed it all....
then painted it gray...
added the high gloss...
also primed the hardware....
painted the hardware gold with a high gloss...
Love this lock!
This one came out fantastic!!!
Then, she had this old radio/record player
from when she was small...
wanted us to paint it yellow with a high gloss....
we sanded it all down, primed it....
then painted it yellow...
then added the high gloss which you really
can't tell as the sun wasn't out...
Done and awesome!!!
I still have 3 other pieces I'm working on,
once completed I will post them.
Custom Painted Clients Kitchen Set.....
A client that found me online asked me to
redo her table and buffet set.
She was moving in a new house and wanted
a different look.
She decided on black with the wood showing
to make it look aged.
This is after we sanded it down to prepare the painting process...
we took everything apart.
Cabinets, screws, hinges, glass, mirrors, metal parts on legs, etc....
These where the chairs before....
This is the table set after we painting and distressed....
she has the glass top that goes on the
table base...
these are the close ups of the table and chairs...
we actually took the whole table base
apart to paint it....
she will be adding the glass piece
to the table base....
here is the buffet I primed all the weaved parts....
painted the inside also...
distressed....
the sun makes the color look off...
the hutch....
she wanted me to remove the mirrors
that where in the back....
then paint the back wood panels silver
with black glaze....
Here it is completed all she needs is the new fabric on the chair pads :)
Looks so much better and updated!
Love it!!!
Art Deco Sideboard Buffet Painted in Creamy Off White Color......
We refinished this art deco sideboard buffet that we had for awhile. Repaired the dents, sanded, and primed.
stained the top then added polycrylic....
added multiple coats of a color I customized...
creamy off white color looks real good with this style....
replaced the knobs with bigger ones and painted them copper....
left the original steel bar handle the color it was,
painted the ends copper...
still has the utensil tray very good condition....
I wanted a color to go with the style....
wanted the top to be stained to bring out the piece....
set it apart from the rest
Here it is finished!
Looks beautiful :)
Cherry Pink Red Buffet...
This was furnished and custom painted for our new buyer Stephanie who we also furnished and custom painted the ornate mirror frame for. She wanted this a red pink color to go with a picture she had in the dining area. So we repaired and sanded it down, I primed it...then applied multiple coats of paint, distressed it slightly, stained all of it.....
Look at this top!
Distressed on edges...she didn't want it to distressed...
Painted the hardware a dark bronze...
the inside got love also :)
Looks very nice :)
Custom Order Gold Dresser Buffet ....
This was a furnished piece we had that our new buyer Sara wanted. She wanted us to paint it in a color form Ralph Lauren called Golden Candlesticks from there metallic collection. I wasn't to sure on it but, it turned out pretty spectacular I think. We polished up the handles and they turned out very nice. She also has a couple other pieces she wants from me to be painted also those will be up soon. I'm still working on them :)
So this is before...
This is after....
I just love the detail...
we had to completely strip the top....
sanded it down...
put 2 coats of primer....and 3 coats of paint....added some wax for protection...
It came out just so awesome!
Emerald Green Buffet
This was a old buffet we found and it was a mess. We sanded it down real good and repaired some parts that where coming undone. Fixed the inside pull out tray and added some handles I had cause it didn't have any.......so I decided to paint it a color that would really be a piece to bring out any room.......
Emerald Green !!!!
I also waxed it with some green tinted wax to bring out the color abit more and add some age to it.....
stained the inside drawers and cabinets......
solid heavy drawers......
the pull out tray......stained that also.....
Looks real good doesn't it? I think so :)
Old Renaissance Star Buffet that was Saved!
We found this piece, it was not taken care of as you can see. It had a hutch but it was damaged beyond repair which was a shame. So we kept the door off it that is what you see on top of the before picture. We looked it up and it seems to be from the early 1900's it is a Renaissance Star Buffet. It is solid wood very heavy, large dovetailed for the drawers.
This is after....I painted it silver on the doors, drawer fronts, and the side panels. Then painted the knobs copper. These are the original knobs. Then stained and waxed the outer shell.
Sanded it down, the doors on the bottom where nailed in and wrapped around to use as a hinge. That is how it was made no hinges. That was taken out as some doors where already fallen off. So we added hinges.
The sides are not doors they are glued and screwed in.
The bottom doors in front do open.
I love it! It came out just as I pictured it would:)
